Too many obstacles keep individuals with disabilities from attending church. For some, the church building is not accessible. For others, the church leaders simply don’t have the knowledge or resources to create an inclusive environment. Sometimes the leader who can change this problem simply doesn’t know there is one. As a result, individuals with disability feel rejected. Their mental health, spiritual health, and happiness are also impacted.
We are compelled to help church communities break down these invisible barriers, keeping individuals with disabilities from belonging and growing in Christ. When we do this, the benefits are restored hope, a sense of worth, the joy of friendship and fellowship, and, for some, everlasting life.
